Si Perkoff - Piano
Si Perkoff has been an active Jazz musician in the BayArea since 1960. This is is first solo piano CD. In the liner notes he writes: "In mid-1999 I became the proud owner of a 1906 model 'O' 6 foot Steinway grand piano. The genesis of this CD is that piano. The wonderful sound of this instrument inspired me to aquire excellent quality recording equipment so that I could record at home. The recording took place during October and November of '99 and now I am pleased to ofer this music to you."
The tunes range from Traditional (Just a Little While) through Blues (You've Got to Give Me Some), Swing Standards (Opus One), Ballads (Autumn Leaves), Bossa Nova (A Day in the Life of a Fool) and original compositions (Dream State). The CD closes with a rollicking Boogie Woogie.
